A Haven for Stories Saturday 17 October - Saturday 24 October 2026 @ahavenforstories is back for its 5th year this coming October! It’s a chance to meet other creatives, be inspired in the morning writing workshops and receive valuable feedback from three talented writers. Tobias Jones is the author of The Dark Heart of Italy and a regular contributor to the Guardian and the British and Italian press. He’s written and presented documentaries for BBC and RAI. Elise Valmorbida is an Italian Australian author who won the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award 2019 for her acclaimed fourth novel, The Madonna of the Mountains. She’s recently published The Happy Writing Book, a guide to creative writing and wellbeing, inspired by 20+ years of experience as writer-teacher. @elisevalmorbida Clare Pollard’s sixth collection of poetry with Bloodaxe is Lives of the Female Poets. Her poem ‘Pollen’ was shortlisted for the Forward Prize. Clare also writes in many other genres: her play The Weather was performed at the Royal Court Theatre. Meri, Jessica, Gessy and Giulia you are nothing less that kitchen sorcerers 🧙✨ Every day, our cooks prepare fresh, simple, delicious food. Inspired by the food they had at home, they whip up recipes with what’s in season. In the summer, all our fruit and veg is delivered by Enzo, a local farmer. Homemade tagliatelle, meat cooked on the fire, grilled zucchine, parmigiana, lemon cheesecake! What’s your favourite villa pia dish?
Meditations on St Francis in the morning, electric Meditations on St Francis in the morning, electric guitar concert at night? Why not! It was such a joy to see everyone dancing! Big thanks to @guitarbreaks for treating us to another one of their fantastic concerts. In particular to Ian Edwards and the talented tutors @coreycongilio and @jeffmcerlain In the same week, we hosted a group who reflected on the life of St. Francis. Led by Peter Stanford and Joanna Moorhead, the group shared thoughts on climate, ecology, community, poetry, painting and laughter. Thank you for a fabulous week!
